Tickets are on sale for Kilkenny’s All-Ireland senior camogie championship third-round clash with Tipperary this coming Saturday evening.
If Kilkenny is to guarantee progress to the knockouts, the defending All-Ireland champions will have to make sure of a win against an in-form Tipp side who currently top Kilkenny’s group.
A poor result and they could face an early All-Ireland exit, but our latest KCLR Electric Player of the Week Denise Gaule has been telling us the side are keen to make amends for recent performances on home soil.
That game throws at 6 pm on Saturday evening, live on KCLR, and will be followed immediately by the draw for the All-Ireland senior camogie championship quarter-finals and semi-finals.
Depending on the outcome, Kilkenny could be heading to Croke Park the same weekend as the All-Ireland senior hurling semi-finals, or go straight to this year’s All-Ireland camogie semi-finals which are being staged for the first time in UPMC Nowlan Park, or they could be out entirely.
The finals are now set for the JJ Kavanagh and Sons Junior League. Windgap is through after a one-point victory over St Lachtain’s and they will take on Tull-oh-her Ross-ber-con who bested Danesfort 18 points to 2-10

PONY SHOWJUMPING
The Irish Pony Showjumping team has been named ahead of this year’s European Championships in France.
The competition for Under 16 riders will take place in Le Mans, home of the fabled 24-hour endurance car race, beginning July 26th.
Of the five riders named to compete, two hail from Kilkenny including Emily Moloney, riding Lady Crown, while Abbie Oakey will ride Boutade Ste Hermelle.
They’ll be joined by Sligo’s Paddy Reape, Limerick’s Kian Dore and 2022’s individual gold medal winner James Derwin of Westmeath.
RUGBY
For the first time ever, Ireland will have their men’s and women’s Sevens rugby teams competing at the Olympic Games with the Men’s Sevens team securing qualification last night.
A win over Great Britain in the gold medal final at the European Games in Krakow last night saw James Topping’s side punch their ticket to Paris for 2024.
The Irish women’s Sevens team made history in May this year by qualifying for their first-ever Olympics.
Last night’s fixture finished 26-12 to Ireland, Ireland going unbeaten for the full tournament.
Carlow’s Tom Daly, now playing pro rugby with Connacht, had previously captained the Men’s Rugby Sevens team who missed out on qualification for the summer Olympics in Rio in 2016.
BOXING
Tokyo gold medalist Kellie Harrington is one of seven Irish boxers that can secure a spot at the Olympics today.
A total of nine Irish boxers will be in quarter-final action at the European Games in Poland.
World champion Amy Broadhurst, Jenny Lehane, Kelyn Cassidy, Daina Moorehouse, Michaela Walsh and Dean Clancy can also book their place in Paris with victories.
Super heavyweight Jack Marley and middleweight Aoife O’Rourke are the two boxers that need to reach their respective finals to book their tickets for next year’s Games.
