Mount Leinster Rangers and Naomh Eoin provided a top class sporting and very close encounter in the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons Carlow Senior hurling Championship at Netwatch Cullen Park yesterday evening.

Naomh Eoin led by 1-7 to 0-6 at half time thanks to a neat goal from Gavin Ruschitzko three minutes before the break. Rangers came more into the game in the last period and it was a Ted Joyce point that gave them the lead for the first time turning in to the last quarter, however, they could not shake of the attention of the Naomh Eoin men and could only breathe a sigh of relief when the last Naomh Eoin shot hit the side netting. It was as close as that.
Final Score: Mt. Leinster Rangers 0-15 Naomh Eoin 1-10
Elsewhere Bagenalstown Gaels coasted to an easy victory over Naomh Brid winning on a scoreline of Bagenalstown Gaels 4-22 Naomh Brid 3-10 at Netwatch Training Centre .

Earlier in the week County Champions St. Mullins got their championship campaign off to a flying start defeating Ballinkillen by 3-18 to 1-11. We will be speaking to manager Maurice Alyward Saturday from 4 pm, with the Bagenalstown manager Eddie Scally coming on at 4 pm Sunday.
