Ollie Moran believes that Limerick’s attempt to claim a fourth All-Ireland title in a row will not impact on the team’s performance in Sunday’s final with Kilkenny.
Speaking to Scoreline, Limerick legend Moran claimed that John Kiely’s impact has helped quell any heightened expectations within the county.
“Other than certain quarters, talking limerick up. In general terms and amongst the public in limerick, there’s actually very little talk of it to be fair, which I suppose is a reflection on how well they’ve been managed on and off the field.”
“I do think that kind of comes a lot from the manager and his management team, everything is very understated.”
“He doesn’t talk up the team, I think the team, in general, keeps a very, very low profile.”

Of course, Kilkenny and Limerick all ready met in a national final this year, with the reigning All Ireland Champions running riot with a comprehensive victory. Moran spoke with us at the time, while critical of the performance on the day highlighted The Cats being the biggest threat to The Treaty;
“That was the most un-Kilkenny-like performance. Kilkenny will always give you a certain level of intensity, but they didn’t bring that on Sunday and that’s the one thing that hurt.”
“I’ll be honest, I think Kilkenny are the biggest threat to Limerick. They have the attributes to take on and beat Limerick more than any other team.”
