Hurling

Limerick have won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship for a fourth consecutive year.

They’ve beaten Kilkenny by nine points at Croke Park with the final score reading 30-points to 2-15.

The win means John Kiely’s side become just the fourth side in history to complete a four-in-a-row.

Kilkenny’s wait to win back the Liam MacCarthy Cup goes into a ninth year.

After the game Derek Lyng admitted Kilkenny did not do enough to stop Limerick’s improved second half performance.

On the other side of things, Limerick player Barry Nash said the win may not set in until calls time on his illustrious career.

UPMC Nowlan Park will host Kilkenny’s All-Ireland senior hurling homecoming festivities tonight with live music from the like of Burnchurch and The Kilkennys.

The team will take an open-top bus journey from Kilkenny Castle at 7pm, down to Rose Inn Street, over John’s Bridge and up John Street, proceeding up the Hebron Road and finishing in O’Loughlin Road at UPMC Nowlan Park.

It’s anticipated the players and management will arrive to the stage around 7.30pm with the event due to draw to a close at approximately 8.30pm.

You’ll be able to follow the homecoming live on KCLR, with Full Time broadcasting from UPMC Nowlan Park on Monday evening.

Gaelic Football


Carlow suffered a heartbreaking defeat again after a superb fight yesterday in their LGFA Junior All ireland semi-final encounter with Down.

Despite being reduce to 14 players, Aisling Cull rattled the net for the Ulster side to book them a place in the final after a 1-09 to 8 point defeat.

The defeat is Carlow’s third consecutive defeat at this stage in the competition.


Camogie

Derry are through to the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship final after a defeat of Kilkenny in Saturday’s semi-final.

Seamus Kelly’s team fell to a 0-21 to 0-14 loss in Semple Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to KCLR after the game, manager Seamus kelly said despite a disappointing season for Kilkenny Camogie, there is a bright future ahead


Hurling

The JJ Kavanagh and Sons Carlow Senior hurling championship continued with a triple header at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Naomh Eoin beat Naomh Brid on a scorleine of 1-19 to 0-08.

Mount Leinster Rangers came out on top in their clash with ballinkillen on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-09.

St Mullins secured a 3-26 to 0-08 victory over Bagenalstown Gaels

Tonight there are three games in the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Intermediate Hurling Championship.

Carlow Town Hurling Club play Bagenalstown Gaels

Naomh Moling face off with Naomh Eoin

While Kildavin/Clonegal go up against Ballinkillen

All those games throw in at half seven.

SOCCER

The Women’s World Cup continues today.

First up, Italy take on Argentina in Group G from 7am while at half-past-9 one of the tournament favourites Germany face Morocco in Group H.

Then at 12-midday it’s Brazil versus Panama in Group F in Adelaide.

GOLF

Rory McIlroy’s wait to win another Major will now go into a tenth year.

He finished in a tie for sixth on six-under-par at The Open Championship yesterday.

American Brian Harman won the Claret Jug after finishing six shots clear of the field on 13-under-par at Hoylake.

It marked the 36-year-old’s first ever Major.

Padraig Harrington ended the week on eight-over-par.
