Speaking to KCLR Ranger’s selector Ed Coady said the team used the hurt of last year’s semi-final defeat to Bagenalstown to secure the five-point win last weekend;

“Happy to be through to a final because semi-finals are sometimes banana skins to get passed. Especially when you come to a Carlow championship with relative ease you don’t know if have you been tested or not. You’re kind of always going to make that semi and that’s no slight on other teams out there but with the caliber of players, we know we’re going to be there.

“It’s just trying to get our team right for that semi-final and we’re probably a step off 12 months ago and we used that to our advantage to come into this one. We were not going to let this one slip. We had to get back to a county final because there’s only one way you can win it, which is to be in it. So we’re happy and delighted to be to come through it.”

It’s a big weekend of action in Cartlow with four finals playing in Netwatch Cullen park in total. Starting all the festivities will be Naomh Brid and St. Mullins in the Junior Hurling Shield Final.Followed by the intermediate final of St. Mullins and Mount Leinster Rangers. Then on Sunday the Junior Hurling Championship Final is the curtain raiser on the day with Kildavin Clonegal and Mount Leinster rangers facing off
