“We’re building” Danesfort manager Willie Coogan looking for club to evolve over rest of league

The Kilkenny club season will take a break after this weekend’s round of action.

Before that, we have four live games on KCLR this weekend in the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling League.

On Sunday at 3 o’clock, we’ll be live from Pairc Sheamuis Stiophain where high-flying Dicksboro takes on Danesfort.

Willie Coogan’s side will come into the third-round clash off the back of two successive defeats but Coogan insists that they will be competitive come championship time.

“There are a few lads there, that will probably be disappointed in the last two games they’ve played. They were showing decent enough form leading up to that, so it’s just a case of maybe a little bit of confidence coming back into it as well.”

“We’re definitely very, very excited with Adam Byrne and Brian McDonald, just stepping into it there and having two really really good games back to back as well.”

“So yeah, look, we’re building. There’s a good group of lads coming and there’s a nice underage setup there, a good couple of boys coming through as well. So it’s like every team you’re evolving the whole time and you’re trying to find lads. We’ll work on getting a few lads back from injury and try and get them game time into their legs.”

You can get a full rundown on KCLRS Kilkenny Hurling Podcast. Robbie Dowling and former Blacks and Whites manager Eddie Scally cast their eye over all the action from the weekend’s senior, intermediate, and junior league and championship games as well as looking ahead to the next round of action.
