“It’s probably no one’s fault” Tullaroan boss Ken Coogan comments on Friday fixtures going ahead amid weather warnings

The Kilkenny Senior and Intermediate grades shall take a break after Round Three went ahead last weekend.

However, there was heavy criticism from some quarters online that games went ahead Friday night in an orange weather warning.

Speaking to KCLR after Tullaroan’s victory over Clara, manager Ken Coogan said the real issues lay with the congested nature of the season.

“It’s probably no one’s fault, but these matches have been played three weeks in a row. That’s probably where we fall down.”

“The call off all the matches when they want to play them? That’s the big trouble. We all want a two-week break. We’re dying for a two-week break, so we need that for the play next week, we didn’t have a two-week break.”

“It’s probably no one’s fault, the season is just too cramped. That’s probably the result of it. “

O’Loughlin’s manager Brian Hogan has stressed his concern for the welfare of club players due to the increased demand for them.

Speaking to KCLR after his side’s defeat of Tullaroan in their opening game of this year’s St. Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling League, O’Loughlin Gaels manager Hogan said that the quick turnaround of fixtures could lead to more injuries.
