The SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division end-of-season awards were held in Clontarf Castle on Thursday night with good news on the local front.
Kilkenny-woman and Piltown native Karen Duggan, continuing to ply her trade with Peamount United in Dublin, was named on the overall SSE Airtricity Premier Division Team of the Year alongside four of her Peamount clubmates. Duggan was pipped to the overall Player of the Year award by teammate Sadhbh Doyle, testament to Peamount’s performances this season as they claimed their first league title in three seasons with room to spare.
Duggan is a former winner of the overall senior Player of the Year award (2020).
Peamount manager James O’Callaghan was named Manager of the Year with the Peamount goalkeeper Niamh Reid-Burke picking up the Golden Gloves award. Shamrock Rovers’ Lia O’Leary was named Youg Player of the Year with the U19 and U17 Academy Player of the Year awards going to Ceola Bergin (Wexford Youths) and Mary Philips (Athlone Town) respectively. Athlone’s Dana Scheriff collected the Golden Boot award, finishing at this season’s top scorer in the league.
