Robbie Brady celebrates his winner against Italy in Group E and, inset, KCLR's Kevin Regan

Every Irish soccer fan will remember where they were the night Robbie Brady put the ball in the back of the English net.

One of our own, Kevin Regan, is in France having secured a last-minute ticket to Ireland and Italy in Lille Métropole. When the final whistle went, he lost it just as much as the rest of us in the news room last night.

He was supposed to be back in the office for Saturday Scoreline but since it was announced that Ireland will now face hosts France in Lyon on Sunday we’re waiting on the phone to ring here to say that he’s come down with a tummy bug…

Self-described on KCLR Live this morning as “as shook as a bag of fertaliser”, Kevin spoke to John Masterson on air earlier to recount the action from Lille last night. Forward to the 17 minute mark to listen.

The remaining tickets for France and Ireland, kicking off at 2pm in Lyon this Sunday afternoon, are on sale from today.

Goodnight from Lille! An amazing, amazing night that we'll never forget! See you in Lyon! #COYBIG pic.twitter.com/7vmrd1RYaB
