The upcoming Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Camogie Championships has revealed some intriguing groups for the opening stages.
In Group 1, reigning champions Kilkenny find themselves alongside formidable neighbors Waterford and Tipperary. Limerick, Derry, and Antrim complete the challenging lineup that awaits the 2022 champions. Manager Peter Chap Cleere emphasized the importance of patience in the early stages of the season, highlighting the process of building trust and cohesion within the team.
“It’s going to take a while in terms of the players getting to know the backroom team and the backroom team getting to know the players and building that trust, et cetera,” Cleere remarked. “But look, we all know there’s a fantastic opportunity there for us. We also all know there’s a massive challenge there for us as well. It’s really exciting for everybody, and we’re just chomping at the bit now, trying to bide our time until the league starts on the 17th of February.”
Group 2 promises intense competition, featuring Cork, Galway, Down, Wexford, Clare, and Dublin. The clash of these powerhouse teams is sure to provide thrilling encounters throughout the championship.
In the Intermediate Championship, Carlow and Kilkenny have been drawn into the same group. The battle-tested counties will also face off against Meath, Kildare, Kerry, Dublin, and Antrim in what promises to be a fiercely contested competition.
The championship is set to commence on Saturday, May 25th, with the grand finale – the All-Ireland finals – scheduled for Sunday, August 11th.
