The draw for the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Intermediate Hurling League unfolded at UPMC Nowlan Park, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive season ahead.
Group A in the Intermediate League comprises formidable teams – Danesfort, Rower Inistioge, Carrickshock, Lisdowney, Conahy Shamrocks, and Dunnamaggin. Speaking at the draw last night, Kilkenny star Walter Walsh shared his thoughts on Tullogher Rosbercon’s return to the Intermediate League after being promoted from the Junior Kilkenny Championship last season. Walsh acknowledged the tough but enjoyable task that lies ahead for his side.
“It’s exciting to be back into the Intermediate League and championship. It’s massive for us. We were down in junior for three or four years now, and the goal was obviously to get out of it straight away, but that proved challenging as well. It’s very, very competitive down there. Looking at both groups (intermediate), they are very, very competitive. You kind of look at who you might beat. It’s kind of hard to see what way it will turn out. Look, we’re new to it, so it’s hard to gauge for us.”
In a remarkable achievement, Tullogher Rosbercon secured victory in the Junior All-Ireland decider against Cork’s St Catherine’s. The Kilkenny champions dominated the match with a resounding scoreline of 2-21 to 1-13.
