Kilkenny captain Paddy Deegan, who plays for O’Loughlin Gaels and partnered with Village man Cian Kenny in the middle of the park during the Leinster final against Dublin, reflected on their recent victory. “At the start of the year, we say our ambition is obviously an All-Ireland, but there is a Leinster championship there, and it means an awful lot to the whole lot of us,” Deegan stated. “It’s probably downplayed a small bit by the general public that are outside of Leinster and outside of the teams that are involved, but it’s a very competitive competition, and it’s one that we really, really value. Five in a row is an incredible feat. It’s just a testament to everything that they have put in, and the consistency to be able to do that. It’s only, I suppose, down the line these players will be given credit for what they’re after achieving.”
Supporters attending the open training session will have the opportunity to see their team in action and show their support as Kilkenny gears up for the critical semi-final match, who that will be against though, time will tell.
