Tullaroan’s senior hurling manager, Ken Coogan, has heaped praise on his goalkeeper, Paul Buggy, following a string of impressive performances in the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior League.
Buggy’s consistent form has been instrumental in securing victories against both Dicksboro and Glenmore, earning him a well-deserved spot on the KCLR Hurling Podcast’s team of the season so far.
With Tullaroan riding high and unbeaten in the league, Buggy’s contributions between the posts have not gone unnoticed. His composure and reliability have been key to Tullaroan’s defensive strength, helping the team build momentum as they look ahead to their next challenge—a clash with fellow unbeaten side Thomastown this Sunday at 2 PM in Clara. Fans can catch all the action live on KCLR, with thanks to Seanie’s Bar Tullaroan.
Speaking after Tullaroan’s recent win over Glenmore, Coogan shared his thoughts on Buggy’s performances this season. “Yeah, he’s a very good goalkeeper, he’s very experienced. Paul is in his early thirties, so he’s at it awhile,” Coogan said, highlighting Buggy’s depth of experience.
Coogan also pointed out Buggy’s versatility, having played outfield earlier in his career. “An advantage to me, he played outfield a lot, he played with myself for a good while. He was a very good corner forward, won minor All-Ireland medals, so he’s got good hands. He is a good goalkeeper, and he has a lot of experience,” Coogan continued. “It’s great to have him, a great, great benefit for us.”
As Tullaroan prepares for their upcoming match against Thomastown, the team will undoubtedly rely on Buggy’s steady presence in goal to continue their winning streak. With both teams unbeaten, Sunday’s encounter promises to be a tightly contested battle, with plenty at stake as the league progresses.
