The Kilkenny Senior League round-robin section wrapped up on Saturday, clarifying several key matchups for the relegation semifinals and setting the stage for next weekend’s first-round action.

One of the most significant outcomes was the confirmation that Glenmore will meet Erins Own in one relegation semifinal, while Ballyhale Shamrocks, as already known, will face James Stephens in the other. The intensity is sure to be high, as both games will determine who battles to avoid the dreaded drop.

Meanwhile, next weekend’s first-round matches will see Graigue/Ballycallan take on Dicksboro, and Clara facing off against Bennettsbridge in what promises to be a thrilling set of encounters.

Dicksboro, in particular, enter the first round on a high after their strong showing against Thomastown, defeating them 0-24 to 1-15 in their final league game. Dicksboro’s precision in converting their chances proved too much for Thomastown, who managed a goal but couldn’t keep pace with the consistent point-scoring of their opponents. This nine-point victory has given Dicksboro momentum as they prepare to meet Graigue/Ballycallan.

Following the win, Dicksboro manager Michael Walsh emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and building momentum for the upcoming knockout stages.

“The players that are playing for us, they’re putting in a huge effort. It’s just about keeping their head right, and all that matters is next week now, and next week is going to be a huge game for us. We’re going to have a savage match, and we’ll just have to get ready. It’s all about the first round anyway, and we have to see how we are and get ready to go again. We’ve had lots of tough games, and we’re just trying to build up now to championship,” Walsh said.

As the first-round fixtures approach, all eyes will be on these clubs to see who can capitalize on their momentum and continue their quest for glory in the Kilkenny Senior League Championship.
