Carlow Ladies Football has received a boost with the inclusion of two standout players in the TG4 Junior Team of the Championship.
Old Leighlin’s Rachel Sawyer earned a well-deserved spot at wing forward, while newly crowned county champions Bennekerry-Tinryland are represented by Clíodhna Ní Shé, who was selected as corner forward.
Both players were key contributors to a strong season for Carlow, which saw them win Division 4 and reach the Leinster Final. Carlow also enjoyed an impressive run in the TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship, making it to the semi-finals before being narrowly defeated by Louth. Despite a valiant effort, Carlow’s campaign ended with a 2-11 to 0-11 loss at Parnell Park.
In the aftermath of Carlow’s exit, Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) manager Ed Burke announced his resignation.
As Carlow looks ahead to the future, the inclusion of Sawyer and Ní Shé in the Team of the Championship highlights the immense talent within the squad and offers hope for continued success in the seasons to come.
