Piltown captain Katie Power says last weekend’s league final victory over Dicksboro has given her team a confidence boost ahead of their upcoming Championship quarter-final clash against St Martins.
Piltown defeated the reigning All-Ireland club champions with a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-12, a significant win for the South Kilkenny side.
The victory is especially meaningful given Dicksboro’s dominant form in recent months, having dethroned Sarsfields last December to claim their first-ever All-Ireland club camogie title, winning by seven points. Despite the achievement, Power and her team are keeping their focus on the next challenge.
Speaking after the match, Power acknowledged the magnitude of the win but emphasized the importance of staying grounded as they prepare for their knockout game:
“The Boro are the best team, literally in the country, and we’re all just trying to get up to their level. Thank God today we know now that we can go toe-to-toe with them, but we can’t get carried away either. Championship is what it’s all about, and it’s fantastic to get the cup and fantastic to get the victory, but we’re playing knockout next week, so that’s the main focus for both teams.”
Piltown will face St Martins this Sunday in what promises to be a competitive quarter-final. Meanwhile, defending county champions Dicksboro will look to bounce back when they take on Tullaroan in Callan next Sunday.
As the knockout stages approach, all eyes will be on Piltown to see if they can carry their momentum forward into the Championship.
