Local rugby season is back and once again we’ll be keeping an eye on what’s happening around Kilkenny Rugby Club.

Kilkenny open their 2016/17 Leinster League Division 1A campaign with a home clash against Monkstown. Last season saw the Foulkstown men make the trip to Sydney Parade for a losing start to the season before setting the record right against Monkstown with a narrow one point victory before the Christmas break.

Some standout fixtures will be the back-to-back home games against Enniscorthy and Gorey, who finished first and second in 1A last time out while Dundalk will also provide some interesting opposition having dropped out of AIL’s Division 2C after a run of just three wins in eighteen games.

Kilkenny also have the plus of opening at home and closing the season at home with DLSP providing the opposition for the closing day of the regular season.
