Kilkenny midfielder Michael Fennelly will go under the knife on Monday next to repair the ruptured Achilles injury he picked up in the All Ireland Semi Final Replay against Waterford last weekend.
The Ballyhale man will be out of action till at least February or March next year as the recovery time is five to six months.
Michael told KCLR says he felt a strain in it in the match the week before and in the week leading up to the game but thought, like with all niggles, that he could play through it and it might disappear.
He went down injured then and was stretchered off during the match, watching the remainder of the game on TV in the dressing room. A scan on the ankle on the Monday confirmed what he thought himself, that the Achilles had gone.
Michael works as the Sure GAA ambassador and in the following video shows the new role he will have to play in Kilkenny’s build-up for this year’s All-Ireland Final against Tipperary……
Stay tuned to KCLR in the run up to the All Ireland Final for more preview interviews, videos and more.
