Brian Gavin will once again step between Kilkenny and Tipperary this September.
The Offaly man, who previously officiated for the 2011 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final, along with the 2014 replay has been named referee for this year’s All-Ireland showdown on Sunday 4 September.
Kilkenny and Tullaroan fans in particular will certainly remember Gavin from the melee in the 2011 final which saw the man in black have a run in with the end of Tommy Walsh’s hurl.
Another man familiar to Kilkenny fans will be Barry Kelly of Westmeath who is on the line as standby referee, with Colm Lyons (linesman) and John Keane (sideline official).
The GAA confirmed earlier today that John Keenan will referee the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Final between Tipperary and Limerick with Carlow’s Paud O’Dwyer as standby referee.
