Tipperary midfielder Brendan Maher says they will do whatever it takes to win Sunday’s All-Ireland Final.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s showdown, Brendan says they are looking to produce a performance that is good enough to win.
“Kilkenny have proven they can perform in finals. They have that experience and obviously they have won a huge amount in the past decade. In fairness, we have performed well in finals as well. When we have got to the big day, we have always performed reasonably well”
“It hasn’t always worked out, but that’s what driving us on now that we have another opportunity to go out in a final and perform and we are just aiming and looking for that performance that is good enough to get a win. We don’t really mind if it’s 0-10 to 0-9 or what way, we just want to do enough to win and whatever it takes, we are going to try and do it”
Brendan says it’s very competitive just to make the panel for match-day and says he needs to be on top of his game just to keep his place.
“I mean we have 34 fellas going into training so there is 8 fellas losing out on every Championship day which is very very hard to take when you give so much time and effort and sacrifice so much and it really is cut throat, but that’s just the nature of the way it is with the GAA now with these rules of 26 (man squad)”
“I know going in that we have someone on my back trying to take my place so I need to be on top of my game and obviously they are trying to get onto the first 15 or maybe try and get on the 26. If you get on the 26, no matter what number you have, you have a chance of coming so there is a great reward there”
