Updated Monday 5 September
Kilkenny’s hurling heroes are set for a homecoming to the Noreside on Monday evening, albeit without a familiar guest in the form of the Liam MacCarthy cup.
Kilkenny were outgunned in Croke Park on Sunday afternoon and despite championship debutante Kevin Kelly netting early in the second half, Tipperary found a goal of their own, stepped up the pace and never looked back to head back to the Premier with their 27th All-Ireland senior hurling title.
This evening at Nowlan Park, fans will get their chance to welcome their heroes home with preparations for the 2017 challenge getting underway from today.
The Run Of The Day
Music and entertainment will get underway on stage at Nowlan Park from around 4.30pm when entrance, typically, has been to Ardan de Grás via the Hebron Road.
The Kilkenny team are due into Kilkenny at approximately 6pm and will take an open-top bus from Kilkenny Castle via the Parade, Rose Inn Street, John Street, Hebron Road and O’Loughlin Road, arriving to Nowlan Park and to the stage at close to 6.15pm.
Entertainment will include a replay of the All-Ireland senior hurling final against Tipperary on large screens, live music and more with proceedings drawing to a close before 7.45pm.
Kilkenny County Council, Kilkenny G.A.A. and An Garda Síochána have asked those attending to arrive early and followed the directions of the Stewards.
And if I’m at home?
Well, if you’re at home and you can’t make it, then don’t worry. We’ll be broadcasting live from the homecoming between 6 and 7pm to bring you a flavour of what’s happening at the grounds, interviews and the latest from the stage.
