Last week a team of the week was selected on the back of two Carlow Senior Football Quarter Finals.
This week it will consist of players from the Intermediate and Senior Football Teams who were in Semi Final and Relegation Final action at the weekend.
1. Rory Doyle (St Andrews)
St Andrews conceded 13 scores against Kilbride but crucially none of them were goals. Doyle had to be meticulous with his kick outs and did very little wrong over the 60 minutes.
2. Richie Coady (MLR)
Coady picked up an early yellow card for a dangerous push on Palatine’s John Reid but done very well yet again over the 60 mins
3. Conor Lawlor (Palatine)
Lawlor powered his way up the field on several occasions albeit with a questionable amount of steps taken a times!
4. Mark Rennick (Palatine)
Rennick was a late starter but certainly proved his point throughout the contest with tight marking and determination.
5. Niall Roche (Old Leighlin)
Roche was singled out to mark JJ Smith and did a fantastic job, dispossessing him on multiple occasions and also drove on with the ball.
6. Willie Hickey (MLR)
Willie was very good again at the heart of the Rangers defence, very assured on the ball and has a great footballing brain.
7. Wayne O’Donoghue (Rathvilly)
O’Donoghue was lucky not to see red for a dip of the head on Cathal Coughlan but enjoyed a decent game in the Rathvilly half back line.
8. Seamus Gray (Kilbride)
Gray took charge of midfield for large periods of the second half against St Andrews and won two frees that were scored.
9. David Bambrick (Old Leighlin)
Bambrick scored an excellent point in the first half and put away the goal which gave Old Leighlin a glimmer of hope before losing out to Rathvilly.
10. Brendan Murphy (Rathvilly)
Murphy gave an exhibition in point taking which prompted Old Leighlin to move Hughie Gahan on him in the second half.
11. John Michael Nolan (Naomh Eoin)
Kicked one of the finest scores ever seen at Netwatch Cullen Park from right under the stand. Also won the kickout which led to a goal for his side.
12. Darren Crooks (St Andrews)
This man has been a revelation for the Drew’s this year and was very good against Kilbride.
13. Chris Nolan (MLR)
In the team of the week again this week for knocking over two fine points from play off either foot and showed maturity beyond his age.
14. Peter Abbey (Naomh Eoin)
Came on and took his goal very well showing great composure and raised the white flag too.
15. Danny Thompson (O’Hanrahans)
Thompson is a class footballer and he was one of the main reasons why the Blues retained their senior status.
