It was an interesting weekend of action in Carlow which resulted in St Mullins Qualifying for their 4th straight final with a comfortable win over Naomh Eoin.
The curtain raiser produced somewhat of a suprise result with Erins Own drawing with Mount Leinster Rangers, in a game which both teams will feel they should have won.
Here’s the pick of the Four teams based on Sundays performances.
1. James Carroll (Erins Own)
Carroll fired over a superb long range free in the 1st half, kept a clean sheet and was steady between the sticks.
2. Gary Bennett (St Mullins)
Bennett has become one of St Mullins most consistent performers and got a vital hook on Conor Foley to prevent a certain goal.
3. Paul Doyle (St Mullins)
Doyle was operating in the other corner against Myshall and broke out with a serious amount of ball throughout the tie.
4. Thomas Maher (Erins Own)
This guy has really grown into a rock steady corner back. Never gave an inch on Sunday.
5. Andrew Casey (Erins Own)
Stifled the threat of MLR’s Chris Nolan and always relishes the challenge of doing a man marking job.
6. Paudie Kehoe (St Mullins)
Kehoe started off as an underage attacking prodigy but is flying it at centre back now for a few seasons and he was in top form again on Sunday
7. Diarmuid Byrne (MLR)
It was an off day for Rangers but Diarmuid was the best of the defensive sextet on Sunday.
8. Dwaine Kavanagh (Naomh Eoin)
Dwaine mopped up serious ball around the middle third in what was a disappointing day for Naomh Eoin.
9. Mark McDonald (Erins Own)
Picked off a decent score yesterday, got on to a lot of ball and delivered quickly into the forwards.
10. James Doyle (St Mullins)
This man is virtually unmarkable at present. Ronan Nolan is as sticky a defender as you will get in Carlow but Doyle gave him a torrid time yesterday.
11. Marty Kavanagh (St Mullins)
Mouse contributed handsomely towards the overall tally of 1-20, picking off a couple of very good points from play and his overall work rate was good.
12. Liam Galway (Erins Own)
The youngster changed the game in Erins Own’s favour yesterday and gave the attack a new dimension. Took his goal very well when the chance presented itself.
13. Seamus Murphy (St Mullins)
Five points from play. Enough said!
14. Eddie Byrne (MLR)
As mentioned already MLR were poor yesterday, however Eddie knocked over four points from play and was the leading light for his side on the day.
15. Craig Doyle (Erins Own)
When a ball breaks around the goalmouth late on and your in search of a goal then Craig Doyle is the man you would want lurking around. The goal was needed yesterday and Styler came up with the goods.
