Kilkenny, well beaten in this year’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final by neighbours and rivals Tipperary, have received eight nominations for this year’s GAA/GPA Opel Hurling All-star Awards.
No Kilkenny players are included in the three man shortlists for Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
Having secured their first All-Ireland win since 2010, Tipperary lead the way with 15 nominations; Waterford and Galway have nine and six respectively; Clare three, Welford two while there is a nomination for Cork and Limerick also.
Eoin Murphy, Paul Murphy, Padraig Walsh, Cillian Buckley, Conor Fogarty, Richie Hogan, Walter Walsh and TJ Reid are all in the running for the 15-man All-Star team for this year.
