Shane Flavin’s Dad James says that his son has been watching his diet and weight very carefully in the build-up to the Intermediate Championships.
Shane’s goes for gold on Friday night against a Limerick opponent, and speaking to KCLR, James says that Shane has been very disciplined to get the best preparation possible….
“You’re trying to train hard. Leading up for the last couple of weeks, Shane would have been training quite hard and also watching the weight so you can’t be eating a whole lot and food amounts low, but you have to do it over 6 or 8 weeks, you just can’t come along a week or two before and say I am going to do that weight”
“It’s your natural body weight, sometimes you would be a little bit under, but you would be in good order, but it is tough especially on young lads”
