Turlough O’Brien doesn’t agree with Colm “Gooch” Coopers suggestion that Inter-County managers have too much influence over club players.
The Gooch made those comments in an article in The Kerryman Newspaper, but speaking to KCLR on last nights “The way it is”, the Carlow Senior manager says that inter-county managers want players playing with their clubs…..
“I would disagree with it completely. I don’t see that been an issue with most counties”
“I think managers are realistic and managers want players playing with their clubs. Unfortunately, its a complex issue because the GAA obviously has a lot of strands to it”
“You have Inter-County, you have club, you have dual players and all those things have to be factored into fixture making, fixture programming and that is not the responsibility of the County manager. That is the responsibility of the Association”
