Kilkenny Senior hurler Jonjo Farrell says that every hurler on the Kilkenny Senior Squad gets a fair chance.
Jonjo was the inaugural winner of the Pearse Medal based on his two performances in the Leinster Championship in which he scored 2-9 from play, and speaking to KCLR, he said the Club scene in Kilkenny offers a route for anyone to get into the panel.
“Everybody knows at the start of the year everybody is equal, there is no one above each other at a different level so if you do the business inside in training or if you do the business in practice games or whatever, lads will throw you in there and trust you with it. The club scene in Kilkenny is hugely competitive like. You go to Junior games in Kilkenny, Intermediate, Senior, there is fantastic hurlers everyday you go out you see a good hurler in Kilkenny. The lads know that and it’s a tough job it is for them to bring lads into the County panel I suppose”
