Patrick Mullins says that his Dad Willie and Michael O’Leary of the Gigginstown Stud are still on good terms despite the split at the end of the September.
The Gigginstown pulled out all of the horses that were trained by Willie, and speaking to KCLR, Patrick says that both parties have had success since going their separate ways…..
“It was unfortunate but we are all still on good terms. We were talking to Michael that Apples Jade beat Vroom Vroom Mag in the Hattons Grace and look I think both of us are probably going to be weaker without each other”
“It is a decision that was made, but both parties are having success and there is no bad feelings so. I rode a winner for the Gigginstown and Noel Meade and Michael said to me, don’t be afraid to ring and I won’t be so hopefully I can ride more winners for them”
Meanwhile Patrick says that Douvan has everyone excited in the Willie Mullins stable.
Speaking to KCLR, Patrick who is assistant trainer to his Dad says that Douvan could do anything…..
“He won by 22 lengths (in Mallow on Sunday) in a canter and he is very very exciting”
“He just could be anything. He has the potential no doubt. Now, we have a lot of horses here through the years that have had the potential, and between one thing and another, injuries and maybe just not fulfilling their potential, horses don’t always on to do it, but at this moment in time, he has us all very excited”
