President Michael D. Higgins to take in National Basketball Final next weekend

Basketball Ireland have announced that President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, will be in attendance at the Men’s Hula Hoops National Cup final clash between Pyrobel Killester and Griffith Swords Thunder on Saturday 28 January.

The news was confirmed this week and will see the President in attendance for one of the biggest events in the Irish basketball calendar, which will tip off in the National Basketball Arena at 8pm.

Speaking about the news, CEO and Secretary General of Basketball Ireland Bernard O’Byrne stated: “We are delighted and honoured to welcome President Higgins to one of the biggest games of the year in Irish basketball – the Men’s Hula Hoops National Cup final. We have no doubt that Pyrobel Killester and Griffith Swords Thunder will put on a fantastic showcase of basketball for the President and we look forward to welcoming him on the night.”

Tickets for the Hula Hoops National Cup finals are now on sale and available to purchase online at Eventbrite.ie

The Hula Hoops National Cup Finals take place in the National Basketball Arena, Dublin from January 27th until January 29th.
