Thomastown manager Ken Walsh says it would have made more sense to play the Camogie All-Ireland Club Finals in the calendar year and finish the competition before Christmas.
Speaking to KCLR after Thomastown’s one-point defeat to Sarsfields in Sunday’s All-Ireland Senior Semi-Final, Ken says it’s something that needs to be addressed by the Camogie Association.
“It would have been nice to get the whole thing played off in the calendar year before Christmas. I mean I’d say Sarsfields or ourselves or Slaughtneil or Burgess wouldn’t have complained if we had to play say the end of November, and maybe the first week or two in December then a final if we got to it.
“Maybe that is something that the Camogie Association should look at it and maybe the GAA in general, that playing off when I know there is a lot of talk in the GAA about playing off the Club Championships in the Calendar year.
“Our situation could easily have been done which is the 15th of November when we won the Leinster Final and you would have easily say over the next 4 weeks played off the Semi-Final and the Final if we had got to them.”
Kilkenny manager Ann Downey had suggested similar at last weekend’s Kilkenny GAA Supporters Club event in London.
