Carlow 0-8
Wexford 1-18
Carlow under 21 Footballers exited the Leinster Championship at the first time of asking for the fifth year on the spin after a disappointing display against Wexford at Netwatch Cullen Park.
It was a game in which Carlow could only manage two points from play and neither of those came in the first half where they trailed by 0-10 to 0-5, with Shane O’Neill keeping Carlow in touch from placed balls.
It seemed that Carlow were going to rally in the second half when O’Neill registered his sides first score from play just after the restart but Wexford drove on with Mikey Dwyer nailing the crucial goal which he had been threatening all night.
There was very little positives that Carlow could take from the encounter and the absence of players from Rathvilly, Eire Og and O’Hanrahans in particular told it’s own story.
Carlow have now failed to win a game at this grade since 2012.
