Carlow Senior Footballers are back in the promotion hunt in Division 4 once again.
They put their defeat to London behind them to beat a fancied Limerick side 1-10 to 10 points under lights at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday.
Carlow trailed by 0-7 to 0-5 at the break but the game turned on its head in the second half when John Murphy converted a penalty.
Brendan Murphy was back to his best for Carlow and he nailed four points from play from midfield.
Carlow manager Turlough O’Brien says there is a frustration among the experienced players within the squad in that they haven’t got out of Division 4.
However, Turlough says the experienced players are top class performers.
“Look there is a lot of experience in the team. A good few of the panel are there for the guts of 10 years now and they are very very frustrated.
“With Carlow in Division 4 year in year out, they really want to get out of that Division so those guys are leading by example whether it’s in the training field or in games, and they really put in the effort and they are top class performers so hopefully they will continue to get results like they did Saturday night.” he said.
Next up is a meeting with Leitrim in Carrick On Shannon next Sunday.
