Paul Broderick was the star on show on Saturday night in Netwatch Cullen Park as Carlow swept to a 2-10 to 0-07 victory over Waterford in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League.
For his efforts, Broderick notched up 2-06 with Darragh Foley (2), Danny Moran and Sean Murphy picking up the other four points.
Carlow had the better of the chances in the first half and took a three point lead into the break, 1-05 to 0-05.
Stephen Enright earned his crust for Waterford on a night that could have produced more goals for Carlow, including a fine save from Gary Kelly with an otherwise sure goal in the first half. It did produce a black card however with Brendan Murphy getting his marching orders in the second half.
The win lifts Carlow to third in Division 4 for now, albeit having played an extra game. In Sunday’s fixtures, Wexford host London, Leitrim travel to Limerick and Westmeath welcome Wicklow to TEG Cusack Park. Carlow are out next Sunday in Aughrim to face Wicklow before finishing the league campaign at home to Wexford on April 2.
