Tullow Rugby Club Head Coach Maurice Logue says a change in playing style has worked wonders as they prepare for Sunday’s Towns Cup Semi-Finals against Ashbourne.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s game, Maurice says a Semi-Final appearance is just rewards for their approach to training all season.

“Yeah, well yeah it certainly has but the players have trained really hardall over the whole season, it’s been a continuation right from the very word go and we have changed the way we have played as well so obviously we needed that buy-in to the way we have played rather than the traditional way Tullow played.

“The players have put in huge efforts and I suppose getting to semi-finals was a rewards, the draw was favourable, lets not kid ourselves mad, we had a nice draw getting into it but I suppose we have been clinical and we have defensively been very very good against teams.”

Meanwhile Ashbourne Rugby Coach Peter O’Donnell says that Tullow possess a threat all over the park.

Speaking exclusively to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s Towns Cup Semi-Final, Peter says it’s going to be a big challenge.

“They are well coached in Maurice Logue and Sean O’Brien they are probably very unlucky to have not finished 2nd in Division 1B, and have least have a chance play Monkstown in the play-off to get promoted so very unlucky in that regard.

“They are a very good side I feel and they have threats across the park so yeah it’s going to be a big challenge, but it is a semi-final at the end of the day and both teams will be going out to do their best and win obviously.”
