After weeks in waiting, Thomastown United have been handed an early week fixture for their Leinster Senior Cup quarter-final against Dundalk FC.
It’s over two months since their last sixteen clash victory over Shamrock Rovers at United Park but on Tuesday night, the club announced they would be making the trip to Oriel Park for a 7.45pm kick off on Monday 15 May.
In a statement on Facebook, the club outlined the fixture plus details for traveling supporters.
“First of all we tried numerous times to get this game played on a day and time that would suit firstly our players and supporters but unfortunately we could not come to an agreement with Dundalk. Thomastown United will be running buses to this game for anyone wishing to travel.”
“We would appreciate any support we can get and we understand it will be hard for people to come due to work commitments. Anyone interested in traveling on a bus to this game contact Paul on 0860262015 for details. Bus for Supporters will depart United Park at approx 4pm. Details will be confirmed closer to the date.”
The club appear to have embraced the underdog tag, with manager Stevie Walsh already outlining that the KCLR McCalmont Cup is their only hope of silverware this season.
In the other fixtures for the quarter-final, St. Patrick’s Athletic host Firhouse Clover, UCD take on Cabinteely while Shelbourne have already gotten the better of Bohemians in a Dublin derby on Monday night, Shels running out 3-0 winners.
