Clara Senior hurler Tom Ryan says there is an even spread among all of the teams as the start of the senior and intermediate hurling leagues commence in earnest tomorrow evening in Kilkenny.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Clara’s opening game against Danesfort tomorrow evening (Friday), Tom says there is a lot of high standard teams around.
“The last few years, there might have been a couple of years in a row where it was one team probably and we all know that team but we have spread out”, says Ryan.
“There is a lot of high standard teams. [With] each of the teams, you don’t know who is going to be in a relegation or county final at the end of the year so it’s definitely an even spread. If we didn’t have that ambition we wouldn’t want to be here at all today but absolutely, the only aim is to win a county championship again and that’s all the aim is every year.
“You don’t look past that, you barely look before it. You aim there, you look at that cup and that’s what you want.”
Clara and Danesfort meet in the first game of the 2017 league campaign at Bennettsbridge GAA grounds this Friday night at 7pm.
