While the county’s adult ladies footballers marked their return to the national stage this year, they’ll be on the lookout for a new management team for the 2024 season.
Announced this week, the management team led by John Gorey along with Eoin Hennessy, Nickey Purcell, Tom Cousins, Aoife Dunne and liason office Siobhán Farrell are stepping aside. While the county failed to win any games across the league, championship or All-Ireland series, the season was always viewed from the outset as one that would get the county back into the National Football League and competing at inter-county level following growing interest in the club game in the county.
Kilkenny had been paired with tough opposition in Limerick, Leitrim, Derry and Wicklow during the League campaign, took on Carlow in the Leinster junior final and were drawn with Down, Sligo and League-counterparts Limerick in the All-Ireland junior championship.
A new management team and plans for the 2024 inter-county season will be announced in due course.
