Kilkenny City Harriers runner Aoibhe Richardson was the recipient of the hugely coveted award.

Aoibhe faced competition from different disciplines such as Tennis, Golf, Soccer, Basketball and volleyball. However Aoibhe’s performance throughout the year earned her the title. In her debut season in San Francisco, she earned the title of All American, set history by being the first from her University competing in the NCAA Indoor track national championship and in February set a new program record at the indoor 5000 metre race.

With the ceremony taking place online the award, Aoibhe had the opportunity to make an acceptance speech.

” It was an honour to be nominated, big thanks to my coaches and teammates, I’m definitely missing it right now but I know we will abll be back out there soon”.

John Maye from Kilkenny City Harriers will join us on KCLR Sunday Scoreline at 4pm.
