Something had to give! Both teams had scored 4 goals in each of the two games played, Belgium staring jealously as Finland conceded less.
Hazard, De Bruyne and Mertens combined early on with a wonderfully worked play. It was like watching poetry in motion, one touch passing, and before Finland knew what was going on Mertens had Belgium ahead on 13 minutes.
Mertens was a constant thorn in the side of Finland, this time assisting Thorgan Hazard to double Belgiums lead and leave Finland gasping for atleast a chance on goal.
They had to wait until the 30th minute, but it was a case of anything you can do I can do better. Pukki and Skrabb with a wonderful one-two passing play which allowed Pukki to hit the half the lead with a volley Courtois had no chance saving.
Skrabb again, proved to be again how pivitol he is, when he deligfhtfully placed the ball in an open space for Kamara who went onto assist that man again Pukki. The game was now a draw at half time, and the second half would determine who was going to top the table.
The second half began with both teams looking up for the challenge. However it was that man Skrabb again that set Finalnd apart. This time both grabbing himself a deserved goal and grabbing the lead for Finalnd. Both Alderweireld and Courtois stood astonished at each other, when in reality each should of done better.
Finland seemed very content with their advantage passing the ball around the back, frustrating the Belgians. You don’t frustrate a team that has the nickname of the Red Devils, as they will always bite back. This time they did with the help of Eden Hazards magical feet. Hazard was through on goal when Vaisanen trying to close him down and in the process taking those magical feet out from under Hazard and giving the referee just cause to call a for a penalty. Hazard converted , its three all and both sides wanted the three points. Something has to give.
This group all ready provided Belgium with a last minute winner v Denamrk. Will it happen again. The answer is yes, but not for Belgium. Finland charged into the Belgian defence as a group , with a ball put into the 6 yard box for an oncoming Skrabb to slot the ball home for all three points. Both teams shouldn’t be too disappointed after providing one of the games of the tournament. Belgium might be a bit disgruntled that they now have to face Italy in the next round, while Finland still have to await their fate.
