Brian Maher is your David Buggy Motors Kilkenny Sport Star Award winner for April 2018.
The results were announced just after 2pm on air yesterday.
The Kilkenny City Harriers athlete took his first National 10K title at the Great Ireland Run in early April, clocking in a time of 30:20 under the gun, just 2 seconds off Manx Harriers’ Oliver Lockley for the overall title.
The eleven-time Kilkenny cross-country champion set the tone for his 10k achievement by knocking 44 seconds off the national record for a half marathon (over 40s) at CPC Loop Den Haag (The Hague). With a pace of 3.07/km, it made for a time of 65:50.
Brian staved off competition from Grennan College (Thomastown) and St. Kieran’s College (city) and will be presented with his award later this month.
