Bundee Aki will miss Connacht’s Challenge Cup last 16 ties with the Leicester Tigers next week – and a potential quarter-final should they advance.
The Irish international has been banned for four games.
Aki was red-carded for a dangerous tackle in last weekend’s Six Nations win versus England.
He was sent-off by referee Mathieu Raynal for making contact with the head of Billy Vunipola in the 63rd minute of Ireland’s 32-18 victory.
Aki appeared before a disciplinary panel on Tuesday, accepting that he had committed the act of foul play and that it warranted a red card.
The disciplinary committee felt the offense merited a mid-range entry point regarding his punishment and was handed a six-week ban but instead, Aki will be banned for Connacht’s next four games.
