Kerry 2-10
Carlow 0-10
Carlow’s Leinster U20 Hurling Championship has got off to the worst possible start as they fell to Kerry in Portlaoise on Saturday afternoon.
The opening exchanges were well-contested with only one-point separating the sides midway through the first half, Kerry 0-03 to 0-02 Carlow.
However, the Kingdom took control of the game as two quickfire goals along with excellently taken scores gave them a 2-06 to 0-04 lead at the interval.
To their credit, Brendan Hayden’s side refused to give in and despite getting some fine points, their lack of a significant goal threat proved costly with the game finishing Kerry 2-10 to 0-10 Carlow.
Next up for the Barrowsiders is another trip to their neighbours to take on Laois.
