IT Carlow Hurling manager DJ Carey says that the squad are in no way affected by the Christmas break and are fully focused on giving the upcoming Fitzgibbon Cup competition a right go.
IT Carlow play Offaly on Sunday in Walsh Cup, and speaking to KCLR, DJ says there is a greater determination to achieve success as it’s the final year in 3rd level for most of the squad.
“They have come back pretty determined that they want to try and do it, because a lot of these guys are in their last year. It would be lovely to get a Fitzgibbon or get to the weekend, plus the fact, it also puts a lot of guys really in the shop window for their own counties. Let that be Laois or Waterford or Kilkenny or Wexford, Meath, Westmeath, where-ever they are from. It’s a very very high level of competition and they put themselves in the shop window so these guys have to be back in good shape, and if they are not, well they simply won’t be picked”
