Former Eire Og and Carlow Senior Football Goalkeeper John Kearns says the players will be well prepared and fully focused for whatever happens with the outcome of the appeals after suspensions were handed out to Turlough O’Brien, Stephen Poacher and Brendan Murphy following incidents at the end of Carlow’s National League clash against Down on St. Patricks weekend.
The winners of Meath and Offaly on Sunday week 12th May play Carlow on the weekend of the May 26th, and speaking to KCLR, John says the players won’t be affected by the fallout of the Down clash.
He said “The players are getting on at the moment, hey are getting on with their training anyway so while it would be handy to have the boys on the line, if they are not there, the players are already well prepared for that, it’s like when you are over a team and you are giving a prep talk before the game, there is a famous old saying that alot of managers use, when you kind of cross that white line, we can’t do anymore for you”>
John added “Brendan Murphy obviously would be a big loss, but if Turlough and Stephen aren’t actually on the line itself, they will be there in the stands, they will still get their words across to the players and the players know exactly what needs to be done, but hopefully the bans will be reduced or quashed altogether and we have Stephen and Turlough back on the line”.
