Carlow GAA have announced Niall Carew has been ratified as the Manager of the Carlow senior football team for the next two years after a county committee meeting last night
The Kildare native replaces Turlough O’Brien who recently stepped down in June after six years in charge which included a promotion to division three. Steven Poacher who coached with O’Brien was most peoples favourite to take over, with recently retired player Daniel St. Ledger claiming he would be a popular choice. Pat Critchley and Joe Murphy, were also touted as possibilities after great seasons with IT Carlow and Eire Og respectively
However Carew does has previous inter-county managerial experience having managed Sligo and Waterford, and was a Kildare selector under Kieran McGeeney.
Two time county and club All Ireland winner Ger Brennan has been appointed head coach with a full background team to be announced soon.
We at KCLR Fanzone wish nothing but the best to the new regime and we look forward to covering future games with the new team at the helm.
