Carlow GAA are delighted Tom Mulally will remain at the helm for the 2025 season. Mulally, who has guided Carlow through successful campaigns in recent years, will lead the county in Division 1B and the Joe McDonagh Cup next season.
Carlow County Board Chairman Jim Bolger expressed his joy at the news, highlighting the importance of stability and experience in the hurling setup.
Speaking to KCLR, Bolger said, “We’re delighted ourselves as well to have a man of Tom’s calibre back with us again for year number five. We’re thrilled with him having Tom’s experience there. With the management team he has in place, he’s going to shake that up a little bit.”
Bolger is optimistic about Carlow’s prospects for the coming season, noting that the county has strong talent emerging in hurling. “I believe we’ve really good players hurling-wise for us now,” Bolger added, emphasizing the potential for continued growth and success under Mulally’s leadership.
In addition to Mulally’s return, Carlow football is also entering a new era with the appointment of Shane Curran as senior football manager. Curran, a former Roscommon star and All-Ireland-winning goalkeeper with St. Brigid’s, takes over from Niall Carew and is expected to bring fresh energy and ideas to the football side of the county.
Bolger expressed equal excitement for Curran’s arrival: “We’re really looking forward to the football as well. Lots of players have put up their hand for county standard this year, and we’ll see what Shane Curran can get from what he saw on display here as well.”
Bolger also encouraged inclusivity and participation for the upcoming season, stressing that “everybody will get their chance” and that no player would be turned away.
Carlow GAA fans will be eager to see how both teams perform under the leadership of Mulally and Curran in the coming months. For more on this, including Jim Bolger’s full interview, check out KCLR’s Post Game Podcast, available now on all major platforms.
