A fresh influx of players is the way forward for Carlow according to county chairperson Jim Bolger.

The county’s senior footballers have been hit by a number of high-profile retirements heading into 2022 and Bolger thinks it’s time for a change in policy for player recruitment.

“We’ve had a number of retirements announced recently and those lads have given a lot of great service, 13 or 14 years,” said Jim.

“We are in transition, we cant flick a switch and it will take a bit of time to get those lads competing with seasoned teams”.

“We need to have a policy of introducing maybe a couple of players years as well in there rather than stick with the tried and tested”
