News broke on Saturday night following Carlow’s defeat to Westmeath that Colm Bonnar will be stepping down from his role as Carlow manager.
Bonnar spent four years with the side, winning the 2017 Christy Ring cup, the 2018 Joe McDonagh cup and a Division 2A title.
Speaking to KCLR, outgoing Carlow chairman Sean Campion praised Bonnar for his efforts during his time in charge of the team:
“When the match was over, he came to me on the sideline and he just felt that the players needed an injection of new blood, and of course, like Turlough (O’Brien, former Carlow Football manager), he done that in the best interest of the team and we in Carlow will certainly be forever grateful to him for all he has done”.
