The 2016 Carlow senior intermediate and junior football and hurling championships will be played in the same format as last season, this emerged from last evenings County Committee meeting at Netwatch Cullen Park.
There were a number of motions on the Clar dealing with changing the football championships.
First the clubs on the county had to vote to rescind the football championships as they are in their present format. This vote required two-thirds of a majority to be carried, however it fell short of the required amount and was lost, which would indicate that clubs are happy enough with the present format of the football championships
There were no motions to seek change to any of the hurling championships.
Clubs are asking for county players to be released back to play league games with their clubs possibly on a Sunday evening when they would have full numbers.
