The Michael Lyng Motors senior football championship came to life yesterday evening.
Eire Og and Rathvilly had to settle for a draw after serving up a fine game of football, the Rathvilly men coming from six points down at half time to level on a final scoreline of Rathvilly 0-19, Eire Og 2-13.
In Group 1, with one more round to play it’s a question as to will finish first in the group and get a semi-final place, three teams Eire Og, Rathvilly and Old Leighlin all have an equal chance.
In Group 2, Mt. Leinster Rngs with a strong determination crossed the finish line six points clear of O’Hanrahans to get their first win in the championship. It finished Mt. Leinster Rngs 2-12, O’Hanrahans 0-12.
However it will be the winners of this evening’s game between Co. Champions Palatine and Tinryland that will decide who lead’s group 2.

Group 1
St. Andrews 1-9, Clonmore 1-7
Fighting Cocks 2-13, Fenagh 0-9
With one more round to play in group 1, St. Andrews are in pole position to get a semi-final place, and quarter final places for Clonmore and the Fighting Cocks.

In the Talbot Hotel Intermediate Football Championship, Ballinabranna and Naomh Eoin clash at 5-30. The winners of this game will lead the table.

between Grange and Kilbride at 6-00 pm.
This game was postponed as a mark of respect to the late Ger Kilcoyne of Grange, who was laid to rest on Thursday.
Ger was a player, manager, officer and was a selector this season.
